ICGLR-RTF trains Master Trainers on Sexual and Gender Based Violence

(Kampala, Uganda, 2 May 2017) – This week, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Regional Training Facility on the Prevention and Suppression of Sexual Violence in the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR-RTF) commences an extensive training programme. The first part of the programme, supported by World Bank and NICHE, entails a one week training from 8 to 12 May 2017:

ICGLR-RTF Training of Master Trainers on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (part 1)

The 12 selected Master Trainers will complete their training in November 2017 and train 96 Trainers from the 12 member states of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) in the beginning of 2018. Thereafter, these 96 Trainers will train around 1000 Professionals: police officers, judicial officers, psychosocial workers and medical officers (2018 and 2019). It is of crucial importance to train those who deal with cases of sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) on a daily basis. The fight against SGBV is the basis for ICGLR-RTF’s mandate as provided for under the ICGLR Protocol on Prevention and Suppression of Sexual Violence against Women and Children.
